Shane is an advocate for understanding “why.” He works with organizations to unlock the potential of their teams and is passionate about improving how people work.

As a leader in his community, he formed the 700-person Okanagan Product and Project Management group, which allows regional businesses to share project & product management, business strategy, and operations best practices. Shane also teaches and mentors project management at the local university.

Shane co-founded and was COO of Acro Media in 1998, a web development company that earned a Mid-Sized Company of the Year award from the local Chamber of Commerce in 2007. Later, with Disney Interactive, he oversaw studio operations, where he led teams to overcome the challenges of multi-studio software development through blending traditional project management and Agile.

He helped found Minga in 2016, serving as VP of Product. Minga is now a successful social platform across many Canadian schools. More recently, Shane worked as the Director of Operations at Komixstream, a startup bringing interactive comic books to the mobile platform.

In early 2020, Shane joined Virtira to challenge and scale its operational capabilities, strengthen team building and implement more robust Lean/Agile methodologies. As COO, he transformed all solution and practice areas, Operations, HR, IT, and the PMO. More recently, with his promotion to CEO, Shane’s vast experience in project management, entrepreneurship, and team leadership will allow Virtira to continue exploring new areas of growth and achieve results for customers and partners.

Shane lives in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia with his wife, two daughters, and two cats: Pancake and Bagel.

His first book with Forbes Books, The Power of Remote, is co-authored with Cynthia Watson.
