Cynthia Watson

Executive Chair

Author of two books on remote work, Cynthia Watson believes in a world without bounds. After decades of working and leading remote teams, she thinks the global shift to hybrid work represents a huge opportunity to transform how people live and work.

She is passionate about empowering people to find meaningful employment without leaving their communities and the opportunities the new future of work holds.

Starting with her first sales roles with Control Data, and later Bell, Northern Telecom and Telus, she has sold, trained, or marketed advanced technology solutions for over 30 years, usually from an offsite location.

Adding PMP and Scrum certifications to her MBA, she migrated from sales into consulting, first with CGI Group. Finally, her drive to be location independent, coupled with her master’s thesis on telecommuting, led to her leaving the office behind to work remotely since 1994.

As an entrepreneur, she has focused on creating impactful communications that immediately sell a concept to the reader, specializing in business plans for tech startups for clients worldwide. Always looking for new challenges, in 2006, she joined Cisco Systems and conceived and built a US-wide PMO for US sales operations. After leaving Cisco, she joined Virtira, eventually becoming its CEO and more recently Executive Chair.
